LYRICS

I saw a dancin’ young lady who worked in the bar
A dozen known rangers, don’t know who they are
The waitress was spinnin’, my head was a jar
And I should have been home with you…

I saw a reelin’ old drunk man dancin’ around
Thought his grey whiskers still must have been brown
Ida Lapino wouldn’t keep her dress down
And I should have been home with you…

The band rock n rolled but it wasn’t the best
Nearly all of ’em all sound like the rest
Some girls looked pretty but you was the best
That’s why I came home with you…

Got home about daylight, I’d been gone too long
Woke up at Eleven and I saw you were gone
So I drank lots of coffee and I wrote you this song
I wish I’d have been home with you…

I wish I’d have been home with you…
I wish I’d have been home with you…
